Plan: Preliminary Test of the American College Testing Program The PLAN is an assessment of achievement, interest, study skills and student information. It aids in career and educational planning and includes 4 sections: writing skills, math, reading, and science reasoning. The test is intended for sophomores in high school. PSAT: Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test The PSAT measures a student's ability to do college work. The PSAT is a short form of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and measures verbal, math and writing skills. It's recommended that you take the PSAT as a junior or sophomore in high school. The PSAT is also the qualifying test for a scholarship competition for juniors called the National Merit Scholarship. The PSAT is not used for college admissions. Illini Bluffs students will be taking the PSAT on October 16, 2013. Sign up in the Counselor's office if interested.
ASVAB: Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery The ASVAB is an interest inventory test sponsored by the U.S. Military. The test helps students match their interests and abilities with careers in the the military and civilian worlds. The ASVAB is available for juniors and seniors at no cost through military recruiters. Illini Bluffs is not offering the ASVAB on campus at this time.
